Did you know that 611,000 injuries occurred at work according to the Labour Force Survey, of which 152,000 led to over-7-days absence, with rates of 2,030 and 500 per 100,000 workers respectively (Health & Safety Statistics 2014-2015 )?Health and safety should not be a responsibility assigned to a particular individual or part of an organisation, but an integral part of everyone’s role.Managing of health and safety, employers and organisations are required by law to ensure that their health and safety arrangements are appropriate for their organisation and at the very least meet their legal responsibilities. The following sessions will offer practical advice and guidance to workplaces who need additional support with managing health and safety.


This 4 day course is accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and is designed for those who wish to improve health and safety standards within their business or organisation.

The 4 day course outlines the practical actions managers and supervisors from any sector or organisation must take in order to handle Health & Safety issues in their teams. Areas of study include:

  • Introduction to managing safely
  • Assessing risks
  • Controlling risks
  • Identifying hazards
  • Measuring performance
  • Understanding your responsibilities
  • Investigating accidents and incidents
  • Protecting our environment

Assessment will be conducted through a series of written and practical assessments. Successful candidates will receive the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.

Healthy Working Lives training courses/workshops are a local resource offering further support to workplaces to maintain, implement and develop good practice with a focus on health, safety and wellbeing in workplace.
